Our Treatment Approach

A Stepwise, Multidisciplinary Path to Managing Pain

At Axia Interventional Spine & Pain, treatment decisions are guided by careful evaluation, functional goals, and clinical evidence — not by a onesizefitsall approach.

Pain is complex. Effective care often involves more than one strategy, applied thoughtfully and in the right sequence. We prioritize conservative care when appropriate and consider interventional treatments only when they are medically necessary and supported by diagnostic findings.

Conservative & Multidisciplinary Care

Many patients experience meaningful improvement through noninvasive care alone. Conservative treatment is often the foundation of pain management and plays an important role in both symptom improvement and longterm function.

Conservative and supportive care may include:

  • Physical therapy and rehabilitation coordination
  • Activity modification and pacing strategies
  • Postural and movement guidance
  • Behavioral and supportive pain strategies to address sleep, stress, and coping
  • Medication optimization

These approaches help reduce pain, improve mobility, and guide decisionmaking when additional treatment is considered.

How Treatment Decisions Are Made

Not all pain requires a procedure. When symptoms persist despite appropriate conservative care, further evaluation may be needed to identify the primary pain generator.

Some interventional treatments are used diagnostically — not as definitive therapy — to better understand the source of pain and guide next steps. Patient response to treatment is reassessed before any escalation is considered.

Interventional Pain Management
(When Clinically Appropriate)

Interventional procedures may be considered for selected patients when conservative care has not provided sufficient improvement, and diagnostic findings support their use. These treatments are integrated into a broader care plan focused on function and quality of life.

Diagnostic & Therapeutic Spine Procedures
  • Epidural steroid injections
  • Facet joint injections
  • Medial branch blocks
  • Sacroiliac joint injections
Nerve-Targeted Procedures
  • Selective nerve-targeted injections
  • Sympathetic or regional nerve blocks (when indicated)
Supportive Musculoskeletal Procedures
  • Trigger point injections
  • Peripheral joint injections (hip, knee, shoulder)

Ongoing Reassessment & Functional Goals

Response to treatment is monitored over time, with particular attention to functional improvement and quality of life. Care plans are adjusted based on patient response, goals, and evolving clinical findings.

Our goal is not simply symptom reduction but helping patients return to meaningful daily activities in a safe, sustainable way.
